The Saudi Arabian government has successfully evacuated nationals from several countries including India, Canada, Tunisia, and Qatar, who were caught in the midst of the ongoing strife in Sudan.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that the Royal Saudi Naval Forces led the rescue operation and were supported by the armed forces. The rescue mission included the safe evacuation of diplomats and international officials.

The Saudi Arabian government has claimed to have evacuated 91 of its own citizens and 66 from other friendly countries. The evacuation operation was carried out amidst ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and a powerful paramilitary group. The Sudanese army is led by General Abdel Fattah Burhan, who is the army chief.

The clashes are centered around Khartoum, including in residential areas, making it difficult for foreign nationals to leave the country.

The World Health Organisation has confirmed that the clashes have already claimed the lives of over 400 people, and attempts at a ceasefire have so far failed. The Saudi Arabian government has pledged to help arrange for the departure of the evacuated nationals to their respective countries.

The evacuation operation was carried out in accordance with the directives of the Kingdoms Leadership and was applauded for its success in safely bringing people out of the violence-hit nation.
